Black Ties & Tennies

This Friday February 3rd is the Silverado PE department's annual "Black Tie and Tennies" ballroom dance during each PE period.  This day is the day that we use all the dances we have learned this past month in a fun, in class, ballroom dance setting.  We encourage (but do not require) each student to dress up in either a 1950's style outfit, or in formal dress attire to make the day more festive. If a student does not dress up they must change into their regular PE clothes. We do require that all students wear tennis shoes because of the wooden gym floor.  All outfits must meet the Silverado school dress code.

Parking for Promotion

We have close to 400 students in our 8th grade class so parking is always a problem.  We will have the black top open for additional parking but we suggest that if you can carpool or walk, it would be helpful.

Because of this large amount, we ask that you limit the number of family members to only immediate family.

Please leave pets at home.  And if you bring balloons, we ask that you be considerate of the people around you and stand to the back.

Teens for Jeans Drive

CJSF is excited to kick off the Teens for Jeans Drive. This is an organization which collects gently used jeans that are then distributed to teens in need. We have an ambitious goal to gather 1,000 pairs of jeans! If each student here at Silverado brings in just one pair of jeans to donate, we WILL reach our goal. Please gather your gently used jeans and drop them off in the box located in the office. We will place a heart in the library windows for each pair of jeans donated, and watch the hearts go up to track our progress! Schools across the United States with the largest donations will be considered for a scholarship to use at their school. Let's work together and see what we can achieve! The jean drive will run February 2 through the 23! Questions? See Ms. Osterli or Mrs. Mangiapane.

Storm Protocol - School in Session Thursday and Friday

ADVISORY:  At this time, all schools in the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District plan to conduct business as usual on Thursday 12/11/2014 and Friday 12/12/2014.

In anticipation of the storm predicted to arrive early Thursday morning, the district has proactively prepared our facilities and planned for potential transportation needs.  The safety of our students is a top priority.

If the severity of the storm necessitates additional safety measures, such as cancelling school or dismissing early, we will notify the community via phone messages, emails, our mobile app and local news agencies. Should this occur, we will give as much notice as possible and will include further instructions.
